Who I Am
Hi, I’m De Wet Kruger — a teacher, coach, and creator living in Munich.
Music was my first calling, and teaching became my purpose. Over the years, I’ve learned that both worlds share the same heartbeat: connection, rhythm, and growth.
Today, I balance education, music, and creativity while helping others discover their own strengths — whether that’s in a classroom, a rehearsal room, or an online space.
Where It Started
It all began when I got my first bass guitar at sixteen — a gift from my father.
From that moment, I was hooked. I practiced daily, joined bands after high school, and by twenty-two, I had signed my first record deal.
Two albums, three televised videos, and a Ghoema Award nomination later, I realised that the music world had taught me something far deeper than performance — it taught me about teamwork, persistence, and purpose.
Those lessons became the foundation for how I approach everything today.
Teaching, Coaching, Creating
When I stepped into teaching, I saw the same spark in my students that I once felt holding my first guitar.
As a qualified educator and social pedagogue, I focus on helping children and adults grow through curiosity, confidence, and creativity.
I’ve coached musicians, led school projects, and supported learners who just needed someone to believe in their potential.
Through Starting My Band, I’ve merged all of this into one place — a home for stories, advice, and projects that help people build, connect, and dream bigger.
My Philosophy
Whether on stage or in class, I believe growth comes from:
- Reflection – understanding who we are and where we’re heading.
- Consistency – showing up, even when it’s not easy.
- Community – no dream survives without people around it.
I write, teach, and create to remind others (and myself) that every project begins with courage — and the first note is always the hardest.
